Though Paris has a well-earned reputation for romance and sophistication, make no mistake — France’s capital city is an incredibly family-friendly destination. Between its fascinating museums, expansive parks (and playgrounds!), and restaurants to suit every palate, the city is just as welcoming for children as it is for adults. And with a kid-friendly hotel as your home base, you’ll be perfectly poised to enjoy a family-friendly adventure in Paris.
What it lacks in location, this hotel makes up for with two enormous swimming pools — a true rarity in Paris. The kids may not care that the pool was the filming location of a memorable episode of Emily in Paris, but they will love its bright color scheme and fun Art Deco vibe. The hotel is in the 16th arrondissement — not particularly central, but still easy enough to get around via Metro, and close to the Bois de Boulogne park and Roland Garros stadium. The on-site restaurants offer kids’ menus, and even the spa has a special fruity massage option for kids ages 6 and up.
Conveniently located near the Eiffel Tower along the Seine, this fun-loving hotel has a Pacman-themed lobby, a check-in robot, and colorful bunk bed pods with sliding doors. Special family rooms on each floor are equipped with nursery areas, complete with baby tubs and changing tables. Kids will also squeal for the rainbow of doughnuts at the breakfast buffet, where kids under 12 eat for half-price, and kids under 2 are free.
Conveniently situated just across from the Gare du Nord, a major transportation hub in Paris, this budget-friendly hotel boasts a range of room sizes to suit every family’s needs. Decorated in a vibrant blend of Asian and African design elements, the hotel reflects the vibrant multiculturalism of Paris. Kids under 7 sleep in their parents’ room for free, and are offered a free breakfast as well; kids over 12 are considered adults and will be charged accordingly. Sunday brunch is especially kid-friendly, with a kid’s menu and a playspace set up with a teepee, board games, coloring books, and more.
Ranked one of the most family-friendly hotels on TripAdvisor, the four-star Hotel Malte is praised for its cleanliness, welcoming atmosphere, and complimentary minibar. It’s in the central 2nd arrondissement, easily walkable to top attractions like the Louvre, the Jardin des Tuileries, and the Palais Royal. Family rooms, connecting rooms, and apartments are especially attractive to families. Kids ages 12 and under are offered a free breakfast, plus free snacks are served in the lobby every afternoon.
For families with a (much) larger budget, Le Bristol is known as one of the most kid-friendly hotels in town. This five-star art nouveau property is in the 8th arrondissement just off of the Champs Elysees. Kids receive a welcome gift on arrival along with a special surprise in the room, and the concierge team will arrange upscale family-friendly activities around town. There’s a chic kid’s club created in partnership with children’s brand Bonpoint, and babysitters are also available on-site so parents can enjoy exploring the city, knowing their kids are well cared for.
Located in Saint Ouen near the city’s famous flea market, Mob Hotel is as approachable as it is affordable for families. The quirky, colorful rooms are generously sized, as is the courtyard where kids are welcome to run around. Family-friendly events and workshops are held throughout the year (like a Carnivale costume party), as well as outdoor movie nights. The on-site restaurant, Karlito, serves kid-approved pizzas and pasta.
Another higher-end option in Paris, the Peninsula rolls out the red carpet for its youngest guests. The Peninsula Academy offers bespoke experiences for adults as well as kids — like a kid-friendly pastry-making class that includes afternoon tea (priced at a mere 450€-530€ per guest). The indoor pool is open to kids with accompanying parents, and suites and connecting rooms are available.
One of the more unique hotel experiences in Paris, this sleek spot is touted as the city’s first boat hotel. That’s right, the hotel is floating on the Seine river — but don’t mistake this for a cheesy cruise ship. Moored at the foot of Gare d’Austerlitz between the left and right banks, the hotel is well-situated for exploring the city — or just soaking up the constantly changing views of life on the river. Kids will also love the pool, while parents will enjoy the fact that they can sip cocktails while their kids splash around. For kids older than 3, the hotel suggests booking one of their larger Horizon Suites or adjoining rooms.
